FAQ
-
Can I attend without my partner?
Yes - if you are in a relationship it is preferable for you to attend with your partner. However if this is not possible then you can attend on your own.
-
How many sessions will I need?
This will depend on the issues that you would like to discuss. In some circumstances we may decide to arrange a limited number of sessions or we may agree to meet on an ongoing basis.
-
How often do I need to attend?
We’ll meet on a regular basis at the same time whether this be weekly or fortnightly. Any cancelled sessions are required to be paid for. For absences discussed in advance I will endeavour to rearrange your appointment, subject to availability.
-
If I'm not in a relationship can I still come for counselling?
Yes – we can think about patterns that might be repeated in your relationships and how you interact with others. Perhaps you’re finding it difficult to commit to a relationship and we can also think about why that might be. I offer sex therapy for those wishing to attend on their own.

What happens in the first session?
Our first meeting gives us the opportunity to discuss:
The presenting issues
What you’d like to achieve from counselling
Any questions you have about the counselling process
How we go forwards. It may be that you’d like to begin ongoing sessions immediately, or you may like to come back for a second consultation to give you time to reflect on our first meeting.

What is your cancellation policy?
As we meet at the same time each week any cancelled sessions will be charged full or half fee:
If the cancellation is within 24 hours of the session then the full fee will be charged.
If the cancellation is more than 24 hours in advance I will endeavour to reschedule the appointment to an alternative time, subject to availability, but in the event this is not possible 50% of the session fee will be charged.
